RL Ligman-we don't have a separate shed-Yet. We do use the owner of the properties shed to store some decoys and unused outboards, but he uses it for skinning muskrats and stuff like that, so you don't really want to hang around in there, at least in the warmer months. Space is at a premium, we do have a rack for waders and everybody has a separate hook for their coats and whatever other outer gear they have. We can also store extra decoys under the place now.
Eric-this place is approximately 20x25(maybe 30). You have plenty of room to have a cool spot for your boys, use your imagination, I bet you'll come up with something neat. You can tell by my first statement that I didn't do the carpentry work
Tod-thanks, one of these days I'll find some old photos of when we first "moved in" about 15 years ago. This building actually used to the office for a boat rental business.
Al-good to hear from you. This place is about an hour and fifteen minutes from my home, and it varies in our group from 45 minutes to about the same as me. I typically spend around 8 nights per season there, hopefully, more in the future. And since we will have a shower when we hook up the water line next spring, maybe even two nights in a row.Since it was hit by the car in early December of 2016, and we didn't get work finished and the electric turned on until almost Christmas, then the big freeze, I haven't spent any nights there since November of 2016.
I will take more pictures and put them up so you can see the rest of it. To give you an idea of the layout, when you look the picture of the kitchen, you can see the furs hanging on the right. Just to the right of that is an alcove, and behind it is the bathroom that has a head, sink, and shower. Along the walls of the alcove are the wader racks and some of the hooks. To the left of the kitchen you can see a door, that goes into another room that has 4 bunks. The boys sleep in there with their dogs. The same door is on the left in the other picture. We have 8 beds total, including the two futon couches. It's a little tight but no one complains. We don't have any rules, everybody knows what they need to do. We were fortunate to find this place and become friendly with the owner(we rent it on a long term deal-handshake). We've been there almost 15 years so I guess it is working out! The heat is a Mitsubishi electric heater/AC unit. We had propane before but decided to do this to have cooling in the summer, and to be able to leave the heat on when we are out hunting. Since we don't really use it that much in terms of days of the week, the extra cost of the electric is fairly minimal. It's close enough that you can get home if something comes up, but far enough that we are 50 miles or so from Philadelphia and Wilmington, and we get great stars, which is hard to find in NJ.
