Autumn Wings

Any opinions on Autumn Wings decoy heads and decoys? Was going thru their site looking at some of their burlap decoys, I have used their heads before but was wondering if there was any opinions on here on the heads or decoys.

Thanks!

I,ve used some of their blk. duck heads on some burlaped decoys. They are wood but I,m not overly impressed with them. Assumeing they are done on a duplicator. I prefer the homer decoy heads myself if your replaceing heads on a herters #72 size decoy or similar. Haven,t used homers bodys yet but they should be as tough as their heads and do look good.

I've their used Blackduck heads and have been happy so far. Several poses and so far the paint has held up excellently. I agree other good options, but I needed the expediency to get my bodies functioning for the season several years ago. And I felt the price was very reasonable. I like George Williams heads but those I like to paint myself so didn't have time for these decoys. The picture shows my flocked black ducks. Not ideal but the one you can get a peek at the heads .View attachment IMG_2850.jpg

I have bought and used both autumn wings and homer heads.I prefer autumn wings, they are wood with glass eyes. They are light in weight can be sanded and shaped for more detail or used as received. Bought by the dozen they are only 5.00 each , they just look better on cork decoys.
Homer heads will not hold paint unless treated with a special primer, and they are heavier. my 2 cents.

I am in the process, as we write, of modifying a dozen old Herter's 72 Mallards. Trimmed the bodies a bit, burlapped them, installed wooden tails, attached the heads, primed, now I'm at the point of just starting the finish painting.

So far, I am very pleased with them, although I can't comment on how well they hold up under the minor abuse I will subject them to.

I have been taking a few pics and will share when finished.
