Wish me luck and that I don't crush myself tomorrow.....

I'm moving Jeff's bandsaw to my shop. He engineered a way to lay over a 9' tall 3000 pound saw like it was nothing and get it in his 7' tall garage door. Now I've got to reverse the process. Jeff probably had Egyptian in his blood. He could move huge things with little effort.

No immediate plans for it. It will stay in my shop and I suspect at some point it will be the exact machine for the job at hand. Until that day it simply looks impressive and makes it look like I build boats like the Nina, Pinta, and Santa Maria. [;)]

Admit it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, your getting off on the fact that Thomas still tells all his friends he has the coolest Dad on the block.

I heard he was gonna cut out log canoes. Damm could make some magnum goose decoys also. Get pics and great engineering on the cradle.
I need a heavy treadmill moved soon... Nice find and have fun with it.

Cool stuff, and I have confidence you will figure it out. I think that machine has enough capacity to carve a life-sized buffalo...

Way back in the late 70's, early 80's, I worked maintenance at an amusement park. We had one very similar. While it was used for a lot of various cutting jobs, the most common was as a re-saw. While I don't remember exactly how big, I know it cut lumber bigger than my skinny little self could handle. Back in the day, like just after the turn of the 20th century, they used to make giant, old fashioned wooden roller coasters from scratch. Stories told of that machine having a lot to do with them.

Eric,

Looking good. Are you getting towards the end of cleaning out Jeff's things?

Dave, other than some white pine he stashed in the crawl space I'm done. Now the work shifts to my shop where I'll put the machines back together and in service again.

The saw is neat, there is one up here for sale about that size, but out of my price range and no space.

But the moving jig is super cool, I would figure out a way to hang it from the ceiling as a show piece if I had that much space.

My wife thought the sled could be painted red and put out in the front yard with some reindeer and Santa in it. That would solve the storage problem. Seriously, where will you store that wonderful piece of engineering art?

Tom

That is the same question I'm asking myself. I don't need it anymore now that the move has taken place, but sure don't want to get rid of it either.

Pretty cool Eric. My Father-In-Law always amazed me some of the stuff he came up with his construction company equipment. Moving heavy equipemt like that is an art in it's self. Glad there's no audio of a 911 call!

Very cool cradle. I like it.
It always tough to figure out what to do with a "purpose built Jig".
