i have been having way to much fun chasing togs and spending too much time at work. Didnt get out for early goose and havent even shot a squirrel.

Probably have another week before they move out, the gale force southerly blow tonight will destroy the awesome vis i had today, so i wont get another chance till the holiday. After that its time for some scoters

Big boy was 11 almost pb, they will make some tasty stock for fish pie or chowdah

The looks you get when hopping in the sound in the upper 20’s are priceless lol

Looks fun, I'd way rather shoot ducks than shoot fish though.

Scoters are one of my favorite ducks to shoot, even though I've only shot a few wayward souls here in the Midwest!

Many years ago i'd sometimes wear scuba gear to dig some quahogs. I remember looking up from the sand and mud to see a fish appearing to stare back in my face. More likely it was looking for the tender morsels I was uncovering. I think it was the same species as what's in your photo (I believe those are tautog).

Yep they are tog and basically the only species you can regularly get with a spear in CT. If it is clear they will come over and investigate you. They are very inquisiative, if vis drops below 4 ft, they are unbelievably jumpy and its very hard to get a shot.
