Pretty much writing off my season - family medical issue

Ugh..... I'm not really a regular here anymore but go back to the near beginning of the site. Two years ago (11/23/15) my fiance Stacey and I were in a bad car accident. Somehow all I had for an injury was a bruise from the seatbelt. She however endured multiple injuries and had been having occasional lower back spasms and arm numbness in one arm. Two weeks ago she had a bad flare-up of back pain and an exam and MRI later it was found that she has a herniated disk in her lower back requiring surgery. Pre-op exam showed a bad EKG and the back surgeon had me admit her to his hospital. Next day that hospital transfers her to the premier cardiac hospital around here and found her to have 3 blockages in her heart. She had open heart surgery for a triple bypass Saturday morning. She's only 50.....geeze. Still no idea when she can get her back surgery. Between the second surgery and rehab, she won't be home until January at the soonest.

In the meantime it was nice to see that huntin' Dave bought my friends boat. I always like Steve Sanford's posts and the pic wasn't there but I need to get my hands on the paint schedule that one of the other guys put together.

Gotta run. Shower and back up to the hospital. Stacey got transferred from ICU to a regular room yesterday afternoon. Need to pick up some flowers for her.

Best of luck to you and Stacey! Just remember as her partner and care giver, sometimes you need to decompress and take a little time for yourself.

Jim .... family first, ALWAYS!

I wish a speedy and uneventful recovery for your fiance and strength and fortitude for you during this time, I know it won't be easy for either of you.

You can always hunt another season, but will never be able to replace the time away from a loved one when they need it.

I hope both of you get to enjoy a thankful Thanksgiving this week and many years forward .......

All the best ............... Joe

Sorry to hear it Jim, I know you haven't had the easiest last few years. I know how tough it is when your woman is ill. Can't offer a word of advice you don't already know about remembering what is important.

On my end, Jen and I go t up early to pull the well pump - as much as that sucks, I'm reminded that these are the good times with us all healthy. Best wishes to you guys.

Good morning, Jim~

I am very sorry to hear about all of these setbacks. I hope Stacey recovers quickly and completely.

If you need any info from me, just shoot me a PM anytime.

All the best,

SJS

Jim, Been there done that. I hunted one weekend last year and then the fun started. First two back surgeries for a spinal tumor. After getting a clean PET scan for that a couple months later I was diagnosed with multiple myloma. Radiation and chemo followed by a stem cell transplant at Mayo meant a second missed season so now I am planning 2018 season. Take good care of yourself, it is probably tougher on you than her.
