I had to wait till i told Pete in person to post this here, but Nikki just accepted her next contract at Tacoma General!

It starts mid January and runs through April. Were excited to take the next step, though we are a little leary of city life. Her schedule will be 3 12’s so there will be plenty of time for exploring. Were are excited to drive cross country too, the route will be dictated by weather so we cant plan that yet but i would realy like to stay more northern if we could.

Im planning on bringing carving stuff, dive gear, some fishing gear, and a couple scatter guns. It might be a little late for duckin but i think rabbit runs till march.

Id realy like to meet up with anyone local or along the way. Ill keep everyone posted as our plans get finalized.

We are really looking foward to escaping the winter dulldrums, actualy living out there for a bit will allow us to see if we truly like it. Im realy hoping it doesnt dump snow before or during our ride. Its kind of a long ride to where we actually were looking at houses but this location will allow us to explore a little for inland

If we find out the pnw isnt for us, who knows we might spend next winter in hawaii, lol.

That's great news Chris. I bet you will fall in love with that area. Seems tailor made for you. Congratulations.

Good stuff, is she doing a travel nurse/doc contract?

My wife thought she was going to get to go to Anchorage for the last 2 months as a travel nurse but the contract didn't work out.

That's great Chris. What a grand adventure you'll have. Exploring new terrain, game, etc is one of my favorite things. I first went to that area as an adult in 1968, when NAS Whidbey Island became my first duty station after "A" school. There is so much for an outdoorsman it will be mind boggling.

Nikki is a travel OR nurse. I have been eyeing a little cabin on an island five minutes from Sitka. If she ever got a contract at the Sitka hospital i would just have to buy it. Maybe someday....

Get some time in via junckets to see how you handle (physiologically) the long winter period without sunlight, everyone reacts differently

Chris,
I assume by "Tacoma General" you mean Tacoma, Washington. I lived in Seattle for 18 months many moons ago.

You will have so many outdoor choices your head will spin.

Steelhead used to be a top choice out there.

Good luck exploring and learning a new area.

Until you start catching, you want to zero in on Pike Place Market in Seattle. A wonderful place.

Larry
