Dogs and Layouts

I saw those on FB, The only issue I have with that set up.. is the dog either sits with you in the cockpit, or even/infront of the shooter. If he could sit between and aft of the shooters, I think I think that would be great!

Perhaps that is the next boat I make... with a little more space between and a dog spot on the back! [w00t][whistle]

Neat Troy. Emma is a pretty girl too.

It looks very cold there in the pictures. With the dog in the cockpit, do y'all lay down or pretty much just stay sitting up?

Was this yesterday, Troy? If so, wet dog in the cockpit was more than I could have taken. BRRRRRRR!

I was cold walking on a site visit up in Searsport.

Good on Emma, though. Give her a spot by the woodstove and few treats.

[size 4]Awesome dog work, but I think I'd let the dog have the second gunners cockpit all to himself.... and all the water he's bringing in [;)]

Core Sound would probably have a real winner if they worked a custom option for a dog box into that design, one that allowed for the dog to be positioned behind the shooters in a compartment of its own.

Yep... Spread the cockpits.. by 1 foot... A d have a semi cockpits (self draining) toward the back...

I drew up some plans last night... As I was inspired! We will see if I have time to make it in 2018!

Hi Dani, They were snuggled in tight... Emma is a great dog, even a little smaller than Pearl. Certainly no shortage on drive either.

Merry Christmas!

Yes Jeff, that was yesterday and cold. We didn't have the usual sea duck action packed morning so although Emma did get some retrieves, no the 10 of a two man limit. The water collected down by the feet.

We thought of that too Bob but decided hunt two gunners. A lot of the water came of before entering the cockpit, provided the dog came over the bow. No the case with that side boarding. In the off season I am planning on putting some rubber mats on the exterior to provide better gripping and possibly a location for the dog while shooting.

Thanks Phil, I like that idea! I actually passed it along to Terry, who owns and makes the layout. He is always looking for feedback and improvements.

Really nice set up there! Do you plan to tow it out? I'm curious what the underside looks like because it seems like it would be tough to tow.

No towing for me... It looks like 2 MLBs side by side.

It pulls up into the tender easy enough. Where I intend to use this is in 3' of water or less as well.
