39* and snow

Geese that is. First time I’ve ever seen snow geese while hunting. A buddy and I were hunting Presque Isle this morning and had a flock of eight work the decoys. Circled probably eight times just out of gun range. They just wouldn’t finish. I guess our 5 canada decoys on the ice weren’t enough to convince them. I did come home with a black duck. First one I’ve short in a couple of years

That’s cool sometimes you can get them to land if you have both but rarely will they land to a different breed ....

Since that last cold snap we had I've seen them a couple times now in areas I've never seen them in before. Even had a group of three circle my puddle duck rig as I called to them with a canada call! Needless to say they didn't finish...

I was surprised that they gave us as good a look as they did. We just had a puddle/diver duck spread with a few goose shells on the edge of the ice. Still cool to see. Never know what you’ll see on Lake Erie. On the opening day a guy harvested a Brant.
