fully unemployed now

I am now gainfully unemployed after a wonderful career as a waterfowl biologist/ migratory bird manager. Now that I am free from the the shackles of Federal employment[;)] I am changing my user name to include my full last name because my opinions posted here can no longer be construed as possibly being the policy of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. If you don't like the bird hunting regulations in the future you can complain to someone else, cause they aren't my fault anymore. And those of you asked to participate in the wing or mail questionnaire surveys, you won't be getting mail with my name on it.

All kidding aside, I never thought 40 years ago as a college kid that I would achieve the positions I have as a waterfowl biologist serving the American public and waterfowl hunters across the country. Now on the eve of my retirement I am honored to say thank you for the opportunity to serve you all. It truly has been a great career. For the small subset of the waterfowl hunting community that participates on DHBP, you are the best. I hope you have a Happy New Year.

Thank you for your interval of service!

Now, you can use your contacts to bring pressure on the EPA to alter their newly relaxed policy that essentially abolishes penalties on oil and gas producers as well as wind farms for incidental waterfowl losses that occur during their operations efforts.

Congratulations!!!
Now who am I gonna get my inside info from???

Congratulations!

Thank you for your service to the waterfowl community! I've been chasing ducks for 42 years and I appreciate the hard work and challenges that waterfowl biologists, field techs and managers face to continue our fantastic tradition!

Brad,
Congratulation on your promotion. There will be a small learning curve in your new position but I suspect you will find the transition to be a pleasant one. From what I've heard, Goodwill does indeed accept donations of old working clocks and wrist watches. In your new position you will find fewer days in the week. Today and tomorrow are the two most recognized but some folks claim there is a third day named Yesterday. I, however have never been able to substantiate that as fact.

Congratulations and thank you Brad. Lots of new adventures await. December 28th was my wife's last day of work. My biggest concern is how it's going to impact my nap time. I hope your worries are as trivial as mine. Enjoy. Jim

Brad - I appreciate your years of service. It was comforting that we had a duck hunter in that position fighting for duck hunters. I also appreciate the friendship over the years and look forward to many more good hunts...

Blessings to you and your family in 2018!

Pat

ps... I am right behind you on exiting the workforce!

Well Brad finally it’s here!

Now everyday is Saturday and the waterfowl, steelhead and razor clams, etc. better keep their heads down. I hope our paths cross again in the future.......one of the other Brads

Retired or not, I will continue to send you with PMs asking for insights. I always appreciated the fact you took the time to explain and answer each question, despite their elementary nature. I'd say your successor has some big shoes to fill.

Eric

Congratulations, Brad! As others have stated, thank you for your service and enjoy the well-earned adventures you get to pursue now. I look forward to hearing about them.

I know this all to well. DOI is attempting to change policy that has been in place for 45 years since the Nixon Administration. You will hear more about this and the wholesale reversal of many other environmental policies, rules and regulations for years. This isn't a democrat or republican thing, its about maintaining and wisely managing our natural resources for future generations or immediate profits now.
