Does anyone have a grommet tool or a system that consistently seats grommets correctly without malforming them?

I have ten to install on double thickness (2-ply) 1000D Cordura Mil-spec canvas panels.

I assume you meant to type "without"? If not, carry on. [whistle]

I have no specific brand to recommend. I usually just use a hand punch and die that I machined for myself. Most DIY'ers will use a hand punch made for the job. You could consider upgrading to a tool such as this which will keep the punch and the die properly aligned during the crimping process.

For the amount your talking about the kits sold at Lowes, home depot will work. Usually have seating die, hole cutter and a few grommets included. I,ve used them myself on double thickness 1000 denier cordura.

I second this post
The kits with the punch and seat have worked well for me.

Check with Sailrite it looks like they recommend a spur grommet for heavy duty use. They also have a video of them using it

I have a standard die set, which doesn't work all that well. I've removed some damaged grommets from the bottom panels of some Cordura decoy ponchos and want to reinstall them without flaws... David, I think Sailrite has some better options that look to be more consistent. Thanks!

Dave, I have that exact tool purchased from ebay a couple of years ago, came with a slew of 3 different size grommets. About $ 50.00 if i remember correctly.
