Ending 2017 on a High Note

Finished out 2017 on a high note Friday with birds working beautifully into the rig for a friend and I. Brutally cold conditions, but decoying pintails and mallards will help warm you up a bit, especially with one sporting some jewelry. This season has truly been a banner one for me, hopefully the new year is just as productive although I think the ice may have a little something to say about that.

very nice

our second split started a few days ago but
its been frozen here long enough - I might be able to drive my truck to the center of the marsh

but there'd be no birds

Nice work we went left out of oyster creek in a skiff and having a flat bottom did a terrible job of breaking the ice with a flat bottom. Still managed a few black ducks.

Nice bunch of birds there I’m heading out for some on Tuesday down in Cumberland Co. Did come across a couple snows Friday myself in a not so traditional way but that’s a story for some other day!!!

Great way to end the season.
Is that a spoonie in the mix??? I didnt think they like cold!

Have been seeing a ton of spoonies Carl, had a group of eight come in when I was packing up this day.

Nice outing Craig. To Phil Tucker-not much open water in Cumberland county, and the marshes are pretty well locked up. If you have a walk in spot with some open water you can probably do OK.

Nice job. Think I am all but done. Still have all of next week off so I guess I will be catching up on much needed sleep before I go back to work.

I'll be back to work Tuesday and I'm almost looking forward to it. With the forecast for the next week or so I doubt much will be open. Waiting on a thaw.
