super warm fleece wader pants....

Looking to replace some wader base layers I've had for years (Cabelas)... Looking for super warm fleece (or similar synthetic) wader pants. No fly! No pockets. Has to have stirrups. Needs to be very warm, but when it is really cold, I'd layer either 2 pairs or long underwear under.

I see MPW has some with only a rear pocket (which is OK, I don't want front pockets for sure). Drake makes one, that looks good, but not much for details on website.

Not going to pay over $50 for sure for a pair of glorified sweatpants.

I have Drake wader fleece lined pants. Worn them under breathable waders down to -11 def F. and been comfortable (with a pair on long underwear under them). One thing I do not like about the Drakes is the side pull strings to tighten them up. They always loosen up and the pants tend to droop. Have to wear a belt with them.

LL Bean offered a very good pair of wader pants about 5 years ago. The best that I have used anyway.

Stirrups that actually work, and get out of the way when not needed. Tabs around the cuff, strong zipper fly, metal button, belt loops, pockets, zippered back pockets, and material around the inner waist, to keep pants where they belong (unlike Sweat Pants).

The cost, if I recall was $80, and for me damn well worth it. I wear a base layer of appropriate Under Armour, or LL Bean Thinsulate, purchased many years ago.

Unfortunately LL Bean no longer sells that pair of wader pants,(you may be able to find them elsewhere on the internet) just the less expensive item. More what you may be looking for to suit your needs.

my 2 cents

Tod,

Skinny pants and leggings are all the rage. Just go to the women's section of any dept store. You should be able to find something with stirups...

Chuck, been wearing the same military wool pants for 20 years . Works for me. Cabelas is starting to phase out their store brand product for the switch to Redhead, I think some great deals are coming as they are deeply discounting product.

I wear the drake fleece work perfect but like said above need a belt. I have a pair of new one sin XXL if someone is that size and needs a pair, good deal to be had, im me.

If anyone has a pair of breathable cabela's brand waders they may have a leak or at the point they will I would hussle into Cabelas or Bass Pro and return them while they still honor the lifetime warranty. Did my last leaky pair last week at Bass Pro and the guy said the jury is out if this will continue.

The whole time I'm reading this thinking "dude, just get some sweatpants...not like the ducks will see the color of you pants under the waders!"

I don't care about the color, just looking for super thick fleece pants without pockets and with stirrups to make them easy to get on with longies under and 2 pairs of socks - gets kinds easy for stuff to shift around. The ones I have I really like them for comfort and warmth - they are about the thickest fleece I've seen.

I'll have to look at the drake - thanks.

Pretty up on skinny pants and leggings given my job. I can tell you from experience that they are not warm.

Once you are in the women's section, you may want the "plus size" aisle.
