Anybody own a Grizzly or Shop Fox tool?

I need a new drill press, badly. Went looking today at a couple of woodworking/metalworking stores and saw a couple Shop Fox 20" drill presses. On both the table castings wasn't the smoothest, but table seemed flat with a ruler across it. Saw a couple other finish/detail issues.

I guess my concern is last year I bought a cheap sander from Grizzly and I got a cheap saw in turn.(Get what you pay for), well this time I will be sending around $800 and wanted so unbais reviews/feed back.

Drill press will sit in the wood shop, but will be used equal between wood and metal.

Thanks

And yes I looked at a couple Generals and Powermatics, but I don't think I should have to spend a grand to get a decent drill press.

Grizzly makes some nice tools. I try to buy decent tools. Brother bought a used grizzly, needed parts and couldn't get them. I purchased a delta band saw well used and bought parts and got parts to rebuild it. Saw is about 40 yrs old and parts are still available.
I watch craigs list and others to find tools...

I have a Grizzly table saw... good enough.. for what I paid... not to say that I wouldn't prefer a Delta Unisaw with a Biesemeyer fence...

If you have the room, look into a used Shopsmith. It is a great machine and made in the USA. The basic machine is a drill press, horizontal boring machine, table saw, lathe and disc sander.

Had a shopsmith years ago, didn't like it. Spent too much time swapping between operations, nice built machine and all, but just didn't work for me.

My woodworking buddy bought a Grizzly drill press, much better than my delta. He uses it quite often in his cabinet shop. I have a Grizzly table saw that I am very impressed with . . .

I have several Grizzly tools, a cabinet saw, an 8" jointer (sperical cutter head is awesome), a 3 hp shaper and a 14" band saw. All live in my cabinet shop. Grizzly tools do not have the polish in their cases, stands, etc, but all the tables on my tools are dead flat and true. I've had a Jet jointer that was next to impossible to set the knives and a Delta table saw that didn't make the move from NH to NC as I was never that impressed with it. I have a Delta drill press and haven't seen a need to upgrade.

Hope this helps.

So, I went back into the tool store on Monday, was going to buy a Shop Fox (made by Grizzly, but sold through stores). Just could get comfortable with the roughness and thinness of the head casting. Ended up buying a Jet for about the same money, but store had to order it, so won't be in until the end of next week.

Next purchase is a new planer.

I have an old Buffalo Forge #18 floor model paid $100 for it, stripped it down, painted it and put a new motor on it. Some of the older machinery is way better than the new offshore made stuff. Buffalo Forge not to be confused with the old Buffalo brand sold at harbor Freight, this machinery was made in Buffalo, NY.

I have a grizzly cabinet saw and a 14" band saw with a riser. I have had both for about 10 years and have been very happy with both of them. I was going to get a grizzly jointer but I was able to get my dads delta since he rarely used it. Based off my experience I would not hesitate to get any other grizzly machines.
