Goin’ Old School

Brown blob-o-flage is my favorite camo. It just seems to scream waterfowling to me.

I love the old Frog Skin camo...I have tons of different patterns and it is one of my favorites. The brown fits in almost anywhere.

I love the old school stuff! Drake made some brand new a few years back and discontinued it. It pops up on eBay every now and then and goes for a fortune. I have been looking for a lightly used cabelas or Columbia down jacket in that pattern.

Woke up to 25+ mph winds, wind chills in the teens and extremely low water. Not good conditions for where I hunt. A couple of ducks aren’t worth risking my life. Back to bed for me.

Good morning, Carl~

One of the first pieces of gunning gear I bought for myself - age 14 or 15 - was a Hodgman rubberized parka in this camo pattern. It's invisible on the saltmarsh.

I wore mine out a long time ago - but inherited this from my Dad. I'm thinking it came from either Beans of Orvis. It's still waterproof - and I wear it on those rare days where I hunt in driving rain.

Enjoy your own invisibility!

Talking old school, I’ve tried for years to find a Jones style cap in duck canvas.
My go to duck coat is a very old Cabelas shorty coat(good for wading) . It was one of the first Gore Tex and insulate coats made.
It has gotten stiff with old age. Probably should be replaced. It has a similar pattern as Carl’s coat.

When Woolrich was still made in the USA?

Not a darn thing wrong with that old camo pattern and style. Hope ya get to get it back into use, where it was made to be.

My old Woolrich deer hunting outfit, pants and coat, were given to a friend in need.

I still wear the loden, Woolrich version of the waxed cotton, British style coat, with corduroy collar and tartan liner, bought years ago.

It has the large leather embossed trademark, Woolrich MADE IN THE USA, tag, and all these years later it is still damn near water proof.

All the quality sporting goods stores carried Woolrich, back in the day.

During hunting and fishing trips to north central PA, we would always stop at the Woolrich outlet, Woolrich, PA.

BTW

if you have not noticed Duxbak is back in business and making their stuff in the USA

they are recreating some of the old items that made them popular with past generations of hunters, and some in the old camo pattern

i have no connection and do not know their plans - but it might not hurt to ask if you have an interest in seeing something made once more

Old school would have been to go and brave the elements.

That's some shade right there. LOL Typed from behind a warm keyboard. [whistle]

Season is open and the sound ain’t froze I could be on the water posting from my phone.

Carl,
I love the old Frog skin camo. The brown colored version hinds well in many surroundings. Of all the different camo patterns I have it is among my favorites.

That’s not old school.

Nor is it the truth, since I can’t post from my old school flip phone.
