Frustrating Day

today was successful but frustrating. Managed to get my two redheads down on MS Sound that was the successful part. The frustrating part was watching hundreds of scaup rafted up on open water all around-me. And none flying exccept when a crab boat would cruise around. But the ducks would
Just get up fly a few hundred yards and sit back down. Went scouting afterwards and found flocks of scaup and redheads just about everywhere. Hundereds of them. But they just weren’t flying.
I’ve got a couple of different spots picked out for next weekend, let’s hope the season ends on a good note.

i got to shovel snow to widen the drive way and sidewalk before the next round gets here after this short warm up - it was above freezing today

second split ended a few days ago- everything froze before it started - and stayed that way

We call that the Gadwall Shuffle. Whenever ducks pass the decoys at 45-50 yards and then go land in the middle they are doing it. Drives me bonkers to the point when it starts happening I pick up and move. Spent too many days on the lake having them torment me to the point I don't give them that satisfaction anymore.

Worst part was they never even flew to give me a look, they all just sat around in open water!
