Here are some phone pics and a video. Ill put a big photo dump on when we down load the slr pics.

The drive was amazing, almost as amazing as taking two steps out of the car on our first walk in tacoma and seeing birds litteraly everywhere. I saw a whole bunch of barrows within a minute!!!

Everyday i probably get to see 10k+ of birds a day (im surprised i havent driven off the road). I have zero desire to ever hunt new england again.

No diving yet. We found a good oyster spot and have been enjoying that. Im going to try for some starry flounder on tuesday if the weather is ok. I checked out the nisqually delta/NWR and was blown away. Waterfowl are like a plague here. Widgeon are the west coast equivalent to pigeons!!

Its not the darkness or the rain that is annoying. Its the wind. Everyday it cranks from the south, it was the same in CT though.

Woke up to 30-40 mph stained yesterday, most days are 10-20.

Chris thanks for the images and write up. Made me think of David Hagerbaumer, and Worth hunting the rise and fall of the tide , widgeon and brant.

Water/land interface, particularly for large water bodies, will always generate winds due to the temperature differentials that occur on a near-constant basis.

i thought it would be more out of the west here.

when i was growing up i never remembered a constant southerly wind in CT, it seems like after those hurricanes a few years back our wind pattern changed.

Chris~

Thanks for sharing your journey.

What are we looking at in photo 3 - with the binocs in the foreground?

All the best,

SJS

that is the Nisqually delta/ Nisqually NWR. there is a large hunt able portion and the entire area was absolutely covered with birds. there were lots of cool birds we don't get to see in CT.
