I love hunting snow geese. I really got into it years ago. I travel up to the St Lawrence River area.
My son and I have a blast. All the years I hunted I never witnessed flocks of birds like that. Thousand of thousand of birds coming down at one time. The sound alone will drive you nuts. White clouds turning into a white tornado of living things falling from the sky. Flocks and flocks moving all day never stopping. Scary if you didn't know they were snow geese. Shooting and trying to pick one out is tougher then you think. I have seen seasoned hunters missing birds right in their face. The first few times I didn't know how to act. Guides asking me to take the plug out of my gun. Using megaphone and sound systems to call the birds. Hunting out of pit blinds. I was lost and thought I was getting set up to go to jail.
But it didn't take me long to understand .The guys next to me let about eight rounds each go off at a flock. But I stuck to my old ways. This year I think I might go for a new gun with snow geese in mind.
