Where to Hunt the Snow Goose

I love hunting snow geese. I really got into it years ago. I travel up to the St Lawrence River area.
My son and I have a blast. All the years I hunted I never witnessed flocks of birds like that. Thousand of thousand of birds coming down at one time. The sound alone will drive you nuts. White clouds turning into a white tornado of living things falling from the sky. Flocks and flocks moving all day never stopping. Scary if you didn't know they were snow geese. Shooting and trying to pick one out is tougher then you think. I have seen seasoned hunters missing birds right in their face. The first few times I didn't know how to act. Guides asking me to take the plug out of my gun. Using megaphone and sound systems to call the birds. Hunting out of pit blinds. I was lost and thought I was getting set up to go to jail.
But it didn't take me long to understand .The guys next to me let about eight rounds each go off at a flock. But I stuck to my old ways. This year I think I might go for a new gun with snow geese in mind.

Thanks for the tip, I have been looking into Mossberg 930 12 ga. They have a gun set up for snow geese. Hold a bunch of rounds. Comes in snow camo, Not sure if I'll go for it . I only go snow goose hunting for a few days a year. But I really want it and I'm fighting myself from buying it. When the shooting is good its really good. We will see, I love my browning 10 ga and I have been shooting it for years now. Its a good problem to have.

Thanks

There's Snow Goose shooting and Snow Goose Hunting.

Hunting is with few hunters. You know the birds that you shot. No electronic callers, no zillion decoys trucked in trailers. No slew of shooters sending up a hell fire of pellets, and wounded birds that fly off and die. Conservation seems to have more than one meaning today.

I spent many years chasing Greater, Lesser and Ross geese.

You want quality DIY Snow Goose hunts, go west and then north, in the fall for at least two weeks.

just my 2 cents

before you buy a gun with one of the mega extensions or even one of the big extensions to put on an existing gun; think about this. With all of that extra weight with 8, 10, or 12 rounds in the magazine; you will have a much more difficult time swinging the gun. It will effect your shooting ability. Speaking from my own experiences; I put one of the two round extensions on my SBE. one in the chamber and 5 in the magazine. In three years of using it; I have never emptied the gun. Even when they are in "your face" and you start shooting; by the time you get the third or fourth bird down; they are getting out of range. Just my 2 cents worth.

I like your style thank you very much. I will look into it and let you know what I end up doing. Stay true to yourself. That's what means the most to me.

Thanks
