[cool] In my life I lost my share of girlfriends because of hunting. Just couldn't help myself. To me in my early days of hunting. The smell of a wetland was better then the smell of a girls perfume(only during hunting season). Nuts right! But I couldn't help myself. I loved hunting so much back then and still do. Better at making choices now , just to let you know.
I ran with a bunch of sick duck junkies. All we wanted to do was hunt and think ducks. Dates were for the off season. Winter months and early spring were my lady times. But once late summer came I was off working on blinds ,boats and decoys. My mother God rest her soul, use to get so made a me. I never treated the lady's bad,I was up front . But they never seemed to understand it was in my blood. I missed out on a lot of fine nice times. After a few miss dates that girl was gone. Didn't ever blame them, But Mom always told me to tell the truth. So I did! and this went on for years and years. Later on in life I took time to have two wonderful boys and enjoy the family life. Just wanted to know is there anyone that was nuts like me. Thanks for reading

Hunting didn,t really slow down my attentiveness to the pretty young ladys early on. In my formative years mainly all I got to do was small game hunt with a couple Saturdays of rifle deer season thrown it and an occasional waterfowl hunt with older brother or dad. Got married to first wife when I was 20. Became infatuated with waterfowl hunting at about 22. Things went down hill from there! We stayed together for 9 years and had 2 sons along the way. After divorce I hunted on and off allowing time for chaseing a few skirts. By the time I found the love of my life I was was about 30. Extremely understanding lady who when we went out on a Friday night I,d have my hunting gear stashed in back of old CJ 5 I drove back then. Would leave her at about 4am to make the blind draw at Assateague Isl. Federal park during the season. She lived only about 10 minutes away so it was all good. When we finally decided to tie the knot I told her up front that if she was going to have a problem with me going hunting and occasionaly spending a few bucks to do it that marriage might not be the thing to do. Well we,ve been married now 33 years so I guess shes been pretty understanding! Few years back she even doned a pair of chest waders to help me do some blind work after the season was well over. What a time to forget a camera! Shes also does all the sewing on my boatblinds and motor covers> Think I just might keep keep her another 33!

I am like Roy, I tried to do both. it's amazing how I could go on a date and drop off the girl at 2:30 and be ready to go hunting in 45 minutes. By the time Sunday night rolled around; I was bushed. Back to school on Monday through Friday and do it all over again the following weekend. I wish I had that kind of stamina and the ability to go without sleep back.

You were a better young man then me. When I came off the river at night. I was tired. After I unhooked the boat. I was off to bed until the early next morning. To start my day off all over again. If I had a good day in the blind and got my limit early. Then I would pick the phone up and go to the movies or dinner with a nice lady. Thanks for sharing.

Your story is great. I understand everything you went through. It took me many tries to find that same kind of gal. Its funny a simple thing like a duck runs a man life !just like a drug. Well there is a lot worse things we all could of done. And to set the record , A few of those lady's that broke up with me back in the day. Wanted me later in life. They have all told me a duck hunter is a lot better to marry then a cheating jackass.

thanks
