Going through withdrawal

I should be working. Instead I was just looking over some of my video footage from the past season. I thought you guys would appreciate this clip. There aren’t many people that hope for this kind of weather. Unfortunately, the cold drained my battery before the black duck show got hot and heavy.

Afternoon Dave,

Just noticed that you are shooting a left hand shotgun. What model, I two am left handed, managed to use a 11-87 Remington Left Hand, my hunting partners always complain when I am on the right of the blind side that my shells are whacking them,

I never complain about theirs. Most of my shot guns I have changed over the safety from right hand to left hand. This year I plan on using my Browning A-5 square back, 30" barrel with choke system and factory left hand safety.

Best Regards,

PS: Great weather, nothing like hunting the marsh in a snow storm, you need to stay on your toes when the birds come out of the snow.

It’s funny you guys noticed the left hand ejection. That gun is an M2 which I hate to use in salt conditions as it really wants to rust in the worst way. I’m going to pick up an a400 or sbe3 this year. I seem to end up on the right end of the blind somehow too LOL.

Only way we could stop our black benelli,s from rusting was to have them dipped. Solved the problem. Cerakote finish should be even better.

My SBE is cerakoted black, no rust issues so far. Held up very well in heavy use this season.

Several years ago myself and my nephew had both purchased blk. SBE1,s. Within the first year of owning mine I had it dipped by TARJAC in N.Y. At that time they were doing some of Benelli,s factory dipping. Got invited over to hunt a salt marsh isl. and stay in owners cabin over weekend. First day we hunted we were hunting a pond inland and it misted rain all day. That nite after dinner guns were wiped down and set along wall in fireplace heated room to dry completely. Next morning when prepareing to go out my nephews all blk. gun was coated in fine rust. My dipped gun wasn,t. That was just from salt air exposure with moisture. I can imagine what getting wet all day from salt water would do to one in the blk. Sold mine down the road and purchased an M2 about second year they were on the mkt. . Had it dipped at Tarjac also and never a problem with any rust since I,ve owned it.

Good morning, Dave~

Great video! It sure keeps me fired up about gunning salt water. I got down to Great South Bay a few times this winter, but other obligations conspired to keep me away during those best "ice and snow" days. I'll be making sure my calendar is completely clear for January 2019.

All the best,

SJS
