Looking for some information and or interest in a boat one of my Captain's found in storage building on a property he acquired. Tag on bow says Peterson Brothers, Shell Lake WI, we understand they were built form 1929 thru 1958? Appears to be canvas over wood, interior looks really nice, they are gonan clean it up once the weather breaks here. Anyone with any information on these send me message.View attachment 038.JPGView attachment 036.JPGView attachment 035.JPG

do a search on "Peterson Brothers " over here - there are a few threads

the forum covers many wood and canvas boats not just canoes - and they have chapters all over

when I found an old sailing canoe i wanted to restore, in addition to the help on the board, a local chapter member came to see the wreck and give me advice

john, looks like the boat is in reasonably good shape. you can poke the wood with a knife to see if there is rot, or dry rot. what you can get for it is a good question. lot of wooden duck skiff over here for sale usually 100 to 500.depending on condition not sure if they sold. i do know that in 5 years of skiffing the bay (in my wooden kidney boat works skiff) i have yet to see another wooden skiff. some of the older guys i know have wooden skiffs. all the older duck hunters love the wooden skiffs they grew up with. all the young bucks go for the biggest john boat and motor they can afford. one of my skiffs is cedar, the other pine (by Thompson boat co), my dad and i fiber glassed both of them. seemed the best way to keep em alive. 50years later i am still using both boats.
