Old Waterfowling Tales IV

I have been reading Worth's 4th Volume. Chapter 5 is titled Market Hunting in Northern Iowa 1880s. It is located near Spirit Lake, which is about 75 miles from where I grew up. I found myself torn. One part of me found myself envious of the wing shooting and the opportunities. The other part of me cringed at the variety of birds shot, and the over consumption of game at the time. I realize that I am looking at this from a 21st century vantage point; but I can not help it.

Also, in light of reading this, I couldn't help but look this up. So different from today.

Would be fun to reload a few and shoot them through my Lefever and L.C. Smith, but boy oh boy I'd be looking real hard for those spent hulls!
