So you're from around Pocahontas then? I was born about 80 miles west in LeMars and lived in Algona for a couple years as a youngster.

My brother and I were up there buying a skidloader today.

Your story Reminds me of an experience I had going back some 15 yrs ago vacationing in Myrtle Beach S.C. one summer I asked among the locals if there were any local decoy carvers in the area,i was told to go visit a bar, name the DECOY, I went there & found a gold mine of decoys ,The owner was a Large collector,Had over 150.decoys Hanging all over the place. After some smooth talking I made him A trade For A Pair Of newly made by me Black Duck Decoys, For A CANVAS Drake Canvasback decoy.& then later went to visit the local maker.A Fine old gentleman. I Am still very proud to have & still have it in my treasured collection of canvasback decoys.

yep, I grew up in Pocahontas. My grandparents farmed the Havelock area.

Phil,

There's definitely some potholes up that way. There has to be, no creeks to speak of for drainage. They just happened to be loaded with a lot of colorful ducks too!

What are you talking about? There are TONS of drainage ditches.. like every 3-5 miles. They are man made though. There are many potholes... And where would be 1000's more if the small ones would not have been tiled and drained!
