Bird identification help. Not a duck.
This bird flew into my window today and I can't figure out what it is.
Any help appreciated.

Possibly a female Rose Breasted Grosbeak. Head and body looks right but haven't seen the underside of the wing before.

Good morning Mike et al~

I have a slightly different opinion. I'm thinking juvenile male (born this Spring) Rose-breasted Grosbeak - because the wing lining is pink and not yellow:

Identification of female Rose-breasted and Black-headed grosbeaks. ... Juvenile and Basic I plumages of Rose-breasted Grosbeak generally resemble adult female, but edge of wing and underwing coverts pale yellow or yellow-orange in female, pink or yellowish pink in male; and bill with dark culmen in Basic I plumage.Rose-breasted Grosbeak - Appearance | Birds of North America OnlineBirds of North America Online

Never had one in the hand, though.

All the best,

Steve, I had that thought. You might be right. It?s hard to see on a small phone screen. I don?t know what the plumage progression is in molt on a grosbeak. But if it?s described in BNA then I?d go with that.

Good catch Steve, I hadn't seen that reference to the under wing colors.
