Name the Houseboat

Always wanted to build a cabin johnboat as detailed in Zack Taylors Book so I can just stay in the marsh for a few days. To that end I picked up a 24' Seark and got a great deal on a 60 hp Yamaha four stroke.
The cabin and rear deck is framed and cabin roof is in progress. I can't think of a name for this ugly ducking - BTW Gullywhupper is not an options.

How about some suggestions ?? Thanks

I don't have a name suggestion, but I sure like her. I've always had the same thoughts about building one. I have my ZT Widgeon, and always thought it would be so neat to stay on the houseboat, then hunt out of the little boat, perhaps returning for lunch, snacks, bathroom breaks, a nap, and certainly for the night.

Good stuff!

Friend of mine uses a 24' Seaark w/factory cabin as transport to and from his island on Chincoteague Bay. Beware when you start using boat that the high profile w/little draft will act as a sale in wind. Makes for some interesting docking at times!

wow, looks awesome. what happened to the deckboat houseboat project??

how about The Merganser Marriott

I finished the house boat I built on the 24' deck boat hull in 2016. After a lot and I mean a lot of work I didn't like it. Had too much draft, too little freeboard, handled poorly but overall was a nice little boat. I actually sold it on Ebay to guy in of all places Denver CO. Buyer dragged the boat to Denver via I-80 - only had one blow out on the way. He then he took it down to Lake Powel and resold it for a profit. I guess houseboats go for a premium down there.

Hopefully the new project will allow me to get into the backwaters, be nibble enough on trailer so I can drag it out o Devils lake or down to Florida for a couple weeks on Charlotte Harbor. I can leave my truck and trailer at the boat lunch for $10 per day and simply anchor along one of the little island if I don't mind paying for the gas to trailer down there.

After this picture was taken I pulled the boat out and built a 30" bow with scuppers. We were doing a test run with the front door open when a wake from a passing barge rolled right in the front door. My partner freaked as I ran through knee deep water for the back door. He thought I was abandoning ship - I was actaully running to open the back door to get the water weight out or it would have gotten ugly real fast. As the wave rolled through I managed to grab my shoes as they were washing by. Dont have a pic of the finished boat but it was very similar to the photo below which was the model for the bow.
