2018 duck stamp

2018 duck stamp

Just went to the post office and got my new duck stamp.

Wholly Mackerel it's 3-D embossed!!

This is the latest I have ever waited to get a duck stamp. Same goes for my hunting license, waited until Sept. 4th.

Don't much care for the Sept. Canada goose season. I do believe the procrastination is due to the No Rush of Geezerhood.

Yet it sure did feel good walking out of the post office with another duck stamp, and a new season ahead.

First duckstamp I bought was 1965, $3.00. BEEEEautiful Canvasbacks on the wing.

Now embossed Mallards 2018, $25.00. I dunno, taint the price that bothers me, just the glitz.

Next year we may be able to see a retriever, or a duckboat and decoy on the duck stamp.

No rush, but I'm lookin' forward to that.

Good old King Buck may he rest in peace.

Good for you another year of buying your Duck Stamp, Your like a fine bottle of wine . Not getting older just better. I'm not to far behind you. I'll buy one until the good Lord brings me up to his duck blind. True hunting is not the same as back in the good old days. But its still hunting, And it might be harder to get a duck ,but isn't that what hunting is. The sky might not be black with ducks anymore, But they are still flying . So we should be still hunting them. Good luck and stay safe.

Vince,
Sitting out the Ohio early season in Colorado, and your post reminded me I need to pick up my licenses and stamps when we get home.
While out here we?ve had the opportunity to meet up with one of my boyhood friends and his wife..... been 50 years since we last saw each other, and it has been a treat to tell the old stories as if it were yesterday, and talk about looking forward to the upcoming hunting season

The anticipation and thrill of a new season never seems to get old. We get old, and make the best of what the Lord provides.

May you have enjoyable season.

It sure is good to reconnect with childhood friends, and to do it out west makes it even better.

Knowing you can hunt as much as you want, when you want, makes the rush to buy a license, stamp, etc., not foremost in ones mind.

Vince, It looks like you will get your wish on the decoy being on a duck stamp.. I think the first place woody had an old Mason(?) woody decoy behind it!

Jake -

Thanks for the info, it's much appreciated.

I can't wait to see the winner.

Any idea of the artists name?

Wood Duck, and a Mason Wood Duck decoy is a fine combo.

Tip of the hat to historic waterfowling. About time.Smile

Looks like a Mason standard grade drake Wood Duck decoy in the background, as you wrote.

It would have been nice to have the decoy in the foreground, and the lifelike Wood Duck in the background.

In these days of photo realism painting, this is a bit of a improvement, and hunting wise, a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the info.

Best regards
Vince
