Many of you may remember my renovation of my Barnegat Bay Sneakbox in 2016 (my longest-ever post?):

After two years out in the elements - and with a visit from a White-footed Mouse who snuck in through the (stupidly) un-plugged transom drain, she needed some cleaning and re-painting both inside and out.

I also (finally) decided to replace the tire on my spare. Although I never needed it, 'twas decades old, a bit dry-rotted and was low on air every Fall when I would check it. So, this new rubber should last the rest of my gunning days.

The trailer got the usual light checks and lubrication. I stripped and re-painted the winch. More important, I replaced the rusty plated snap-hook with s/s. Of course, before I re-sewed the nylon strap, I washed AND ironed it (who wouldn't ?).

The original 5 coats of varnish had worn through along the brow of Mister Red-Leg himself. So, he got a touch of 220-grit and 3 more coats.

Now he can shed the sun, rain, sleet and snow.

All the gear has been cleaned and re-stowed.

NOTE: that hard cockpit cover is for off-season only. Once the boat is thatched up, I cover the cockpit with a canvas lashed to the thatch rails; I use the push pole as a ridge pole when doing so.

Here's the duck's-eye perspective of this sweet and seaworthy hull.

This tented storage cover will now protect all of the finishes off-season.

Best of all, my new helmsman approved. Eschewing the more traditional cheroot or stogie, Cap'n Jacob - like many of his contemporaries - favors a "binkie" to steady his hand on the tiller as he steers into a lumpy head sea.....

All the best,
