NDR - problem cats (any vets care to shed some advice)
I know, I know what is a cat question doing on this site. We've had a couple of cats for some time now (one since 1988, the other since 1991). Lately, one cat has taken a liking to using our finished basement as a litter box. We have tried everything to solve the problem (at least I think we have). All to no avail. My wife (the cat lover) is close to bringing in the suspect cat to permanently solve the problem. There's the problem, we are not sure which cat it is? We think we know but can't be 100% sure and it would be a shame to bring in the wrong cat (according to the wifey)

Any thoughts? Any suggestions on where else to ask this question? How do we determine which cat is the problem cat?

Mark,
Are these indoor/outdoor cats? One thing that comes to mind if my math is right, is that these are some old cats. Maybe one of them is getting senile or just got tired of crappin out in the cold.

Indoor cats all the way. When they were younger they would go outside for awhile but it has been years since one of them has gone outside and the other (suspect one) goes on the deck a few times per year.

Which one do I shoot?

I was thinking along the same lines. Maybe one of them is losing control of bodily functions. Do they make kitty Depends?

Or a shovel...WHACK..DIG...easy peasey lemon squeezy. Seriously..a twentytwo works better..but I digress... Do they both eat out of the same bucket? How about putting different color short pieces of yarn in their food and see which color shows up in the basement? Every cat that I have been around always had thread and yarn in it's crap.

Only you would wander around looking for yarn in cat stuff. ;^) Glad I wasn't drinking anything.

why would both cats have to have a color yarn? couldnt you just put yarn in one cats food, and if theres no yarn in the poop, its the other cat? Just trying to make it simple. travis

Why yarn them both? Cause it's funny watching a cat walk around with a string hanging out it's ass.

I don't seem to understand the question. They're cats. They're both problems.

Have you ever seen the movie The Eiger Sanction?

That should give you a few ideas.

(just kidding..... sort of ;) )
