Had a fun start for NJ's first segment North zone.. My Son and I hunted a new place - had some birds move but no one wanted to play. Still awesome to get out and start the fun. New Decoys in the flooded grass I think looked great! Hope you all have as much fun on your hunts. We are looking forward to hosting "Robert" in two months!View attachment NJopener.jpgView attachment njopen1.jpg

Very nice Randy! I had the day off today and got a nice surprise, my first ever banded teal. Two year old greenwing from Ontario up north of Michigan... long way east for this little bird.

That's awesome! I've yet to get a banded duck, but lucky to get 5 banded Canada geese in 25 years of waterfowl hunting ! Great for you!

I only have one goose band as I don't do much goose hunting. Shot that one over a puddle duck spread in the ice. I do have three double banded brant though. Usually average about one banded bird a season so I guess I got it out of the way early this year!

Interesting to me that this bird decided to come down the NJ coast vs staying west down to Arkansas or somewhere.

Glad to see you're having a good start.
I've only shot a local wood duck with a band. But have shot three snow geese. 1 had a $50 reward band and 1 had a neck band.

Always amazing to see the distance these birds go twice a year! Ryans first season he killed a Brant with a band and could not grasp the 2200 Miles the bird had flown to commit Suicide in the Navesink!

Congrats Craig. That's an awesome way to kick off the season. Good luck on a great season. I'm moving to Monmouth County next year. I hope to meet you some time.
