Im looking for a new duck coat I've been looking at all the brands up to sitka, rivers west eider, cabelas norther flight, midway USA coat, and drake. Sitka Boreal jacket is to much for me at $600. Im looking for something warm and dry. I mean dry the only jacket I ever wore fishing in a down pour and stayed dry is grunens the orange kind that commercial fishermen wear. I am just looking for recommendations i hunt weather. I take off for weather and my cabelas coat i had for years gets soaked and heavy and the dry plus lining has deteriated getting me wet after a few hours. Just looking for some help from you guys.

Hey Josh.

I posed the same question here after a good soaking in a late season Arkansas hunt. I ended up going with Rivers West and have not been disappointed. I hunt NE Wisconsin. I called them before ordering and was impressed with the customer service and their guarantee. Worth checking out in my opinion. You can search my thread for other suggestions from the duck boat folks.

Good luck.

Weather Watch Hooded Sport Fishing Jacket Camo . You might want to consider this for over your normal hunting jkt. if you like grundens. Its not insulated but should do well over other insulated jkt.

Thanks for the replies anyone use a kobuck coat the one made of neoprene? I have some rivers west stuff for deer hunting one thing i didn't like was that it didn't breath especially the pants.

I would first check and see if your Cabelas coat came with a lifetime warranty. Might get a new one as a free replacement.

I have a Columbia wader 4 in 1 and it is a replacement after the first one leaked. I would not hunt a downpour in it as I know it would leak eventually. I also own a Drake jacket and that one I would trust in a downpour.

Thanks Mark my cabelas coat is 16 years old this season and i don't think i will be sending it back it still performs very well in the cold just not the rain. I am leaning toward the drake coat.

I'd bet a hefty wager that you would only wear the neoprene coat one time. I can't even imagine wearing neoprene as a coat. I'd have so much moisture wafting past my head , it would look like a tea pot at full boil.

Neoprene doesn't breathe much at all either, so you likely wouldn't care for it.

There are a few companies that sell sprays to re-waterproof clothing. I?ve used them on canvas and they work well so you may want to give it a try.

The Kiwi Kamp Dry works really well on tent canvas. Have thought about using it on one of my jackets but haven?t tried it yet

If you decide to go with Drake coat get their LST versions if you want to stay warm. I,ve got their jkts. in MST versions and LST versions and the LST versions really do the job in late season. Wing Supply And Field Supply both carry these at extremely discounted prices compared to everyone else.

I use a kobuk neoprene when running the boat. Keeps the wind and water out. Stormr makes a nicer one but kobuk is priced right. Late season extreme temp days I like a heavier parka.
