DHBP Gathering, 20 Years in the Making

I always enjoy meeting people from this site. I have met some really awesome folks. I know Pete always has a good time catching up with everyone at strongsville.

Pretty cool Carl. The DHBP and MLB gatherings gave been a highlight of the past 20 years. Here's a pic of the first one I ever went to. Not sure of the date but I believe it's Oct 1999 on Pool 9, Mississippi River.

Back row: me, Steve Sutton, Mark Rongers, ? maybe John Rongers, Tom Reder, Eric, ?, John Vucko. Bottom: my son Mark, ?, Greg Bires. The ? names I do know but escape me now.

It was a treat to meet you and your lovely family. I think Yuri is going to find college life at UAH to be challenging, rewarding, and some fun along the way too. It's a good engineering school with a really nice campus and great connections to the local aerospace industry. Going into their engineering program sets him up for a great career. You can be proud.

Hard to believe we've lived in the same state for 20 years and not met up before. If Michelle's family had stayed in Mobile I'm sure we would have met and hunted together over they years but when they moved here, a six hour drive, it pretty much eliminated me coming to Mobile anymore. Sorry it took 20 years to meet face-to-face.

I wish we could have visited longer but the restaurant workers were pushing us out the door. I'd imagine you will make a few more trip here in the future so I say we do it again. Thanks for reaching out to me, Thomas and I really enjoyed it.

Sure thing, we definitely need to get together when we bring him back up for orientation and summer session in the spring!
And if Thomas has any questions about heading off to Aburn, just have him shot me an email!!
 
That's pretty cool Carl and Eric. It's good you're close enough to be able to meet. I've had the good fortune of meeting several great people here in the Midwest and Florida thought the site as well. The Midwest DHBP get together's have always been a fun time and times I'll always remember. As a matter of fact I met Mark Spolarich through this site and we still duck hunt together.

Next year I am retiring and moving to the Raleigh area. I've been thinking of doing a rendezvous at my house of duck boat people.

Of course, I haven't told my wife!!

Carl - UAH is a great school! I'm go to campus regularly for different STEM and mentoring events so I can give you my number for him to have another "local" PoC if he needs anything. Great seeing you and Eric finally got to meet!
