Paul Kantner got it right!

Ryan "Stinky" Zinke is leaving as head of the Department of Interior at the end of 2018; several less conspicuous "carpet baggers" remain in key administrative posts within the department.

I attended a U.P. Winter Habitat Working Group meeting last week. While discussing winter deer complex habitat enhancement, forest managers from both the Ottawa and Hiawatha National Forests outlined administration mandates for sequential increases in annual forest harvest at board foot increase levels offered as proportional increments over the next three years that both supervisors stated were beyond their physical capacity to achieve with existing manpower, since each compartment has to have an accompanying NEPA review prior issuance of bids. Currently, the grand plan is to expand the areas of coverage of future NEPA reviews...which, without manpower increases, will result in dilution of effort and future scrutiny/risk assessment precision estimates.

Clear-cut, burn, pave...

Drain the swamp!!! Now how to address the WOTUS issues before all our wetlands become golf courses.
Be well all.

I have friends who work for DOI, EPA, NRCS, etc..
They are all just horrified watching this administration quickly strip away 50 years of environmental progress.
If this WOTUS thing holds up, every pot hole on the prairie will be in ethanol production in no time flat....

I have a grouse hunting friend who just completed graduate school and accepted a job with MDNR Water Quality Division. He spends a portion of his time operating drones over sites that passers-by or neighbor informants have tipped the agency off regarding wetlands "manipulations"; chief among them attempted conversion of seasonal wetlands into food plots for deer. The frequently offered defense is: "I have to feed deer, to feed my family!" Yes, high organic flocculent content, low pH, three months of the year moist soils don't produce much by way of a clover plot!

We have an environment debacle in the making that WOTUS's enactment will greatly benefit the current appeal effort on. The Woodland Road project is a 40 some road mile corridor whose construction was proposed by a consortium of private individuals, funded by Marquette County Road Commission (MCRC) and Eagle Mine monies. MCRC has repeatedly stated they have trouble maintaining their existing road network's maintenance requirements, yet are in full support of the construction of this corridor that winds through wild country northwest of Marquette. EPA denied the initial permits submissions, citing among other things the potential destruction of a variety of woodland wetland complexes that were unique, as well as disruption of passerine bird nesting habitat, as well as moose and whitetail deer seasonal migration routes. The Federal Appeals court denied the initial appeal filed by the county. Yet, a privately funded appeal, lead by a group of "interested citizens" have formed a non-profit to collect public and private donations to again appeal the construction permit applications.

Imagine someone making James Watt look good in comparison? Imagine wanting Dick Cheney back as VP? That is an indication of how incompetent this bunch is. If Jimmy Breslin were still alive, he would write a new book, "The Administration That Couldn't Lie Straight".

Yes plus opening the Atlantic coast to oil drilling. Allowing seismic probing that is very damaging to sea life "as long as it isnt intentional"???
WTF?
It is called GREED.
