Tom Scholberg Update

Tom ended up in the Methodist ER last night with a fever of 102.4 and low blood pressure. They admitted him and he will probably be there for a few days. Tough to be in a hospital at this time of the year. If you get a minute, a shout out to Tom would mean much I am certain.

Geesh Tom,

Heck of a way to spend your birthday. Hope you get well and the nurses bring you a piece of cake. No candles tho, can't have everyone panicking when the smoke alarms go off.

Spoke with Tom a short while ago. The doctors aren't certain what is going on but there seems to be a consensus that it could be a reaction to one of the drugs he has been taking. He is on a medical drug trial out of Mayo and one of the drugs may have caused a reaction. They aren't certain. His blood pressure while low wasn't a real concern but the high fever was. Fever is in check and as Tom puts it "there's nothing growing in the petri dish' which means no infection or Sepsis I believe he said.

Spending your B-Day and Christmas isn't ideal and I know he would rather be home. Keep Tom and his family in your thoughts this Christmas and he will be home soon.

I know he does not have his computer with him at the hospital so he won't be seeing the many glad tidings and well wishes. Do know that he appreciates it very much as he calls the DBHF his extended family.

Thanks Mark for the update. That is very thoughtful of you to keep us updated on Tom's condition we really appreciate it.

Pulling for you Tom, hope everything is under control and that they have maybe been able to identify which part of the treatment was the cause.

We need to catch up soon

Well here it is 2019 and I am still kicking. Thanks so much Mark for passing the bad news on. Most of all thanks to my DHBP family for all the great juju and prayers. Near as we can tell the whole mess was caused by a reaction to the chemo drug so we try a different one now.

Good to hear they have a plan, Tom. Every once in a while you have to pick up the decoys and move 'em. [;)] Keeping you in our thoughts & prayers.

Tom--Very glad to hear you checking in. Here's hoping the next option works better for you. Keeping you in out thoughts here in Maine.
