I have 6 Broadbill decoys on the bench that I making to present to the board of the South Shore Waterfowler Association. This is the second year I am doing this and plan on continuing. SSWA has been the voice of duck hunters on Long Island south shore for a long time. I first became a member in the 1980-s. The board members generously give their time and energy to promote duck hunting with NYS DEC as well as government agencies. I do this as a small gesture of appreciation of all they do.

My contribution to the thread this month is another set of swimmers. Just finished setting the eyes this morning. I'll give the paints and glues a few days to cure out before a final tank test. The last tank test, will determine the exact location for the screw eye in the top of the back, that will suspend the decoy in the water.

The fruits of my labor from my last trip to MN. I have enough Northern for another batch. Good thing too because the first batch is half eaten already.

Not sure if you meant mine or George's. My small ones are from Mike, LZ Decoys. They have been excellent.

The larger are urethane and were molded by a couple friends of mine.

Michael Braun does do an excellent job on his birds! Wish he was still running LZ Decoys; nice to hunt over urethane decoys that don't have their bills snap off on the first hunt like e. Allen birds. The texturing you applied to the bodies was what threw me, combined with the raised primaires. I bought six of his high head canvasbacks unpainted, wish I could have purchased more but he was going out of business and closing LZ decoys down.

Like Pat Gregory, I think high head birds, when done in a display or challenge posture really add to a rig.

I guess the idea is to get those birds so dizzy they just fall out of the sky????

....or did you get a bit woozy just painting them?

All the best,

SJS
