Eurasian Wigeon - BEHR PAINTS

At the request of a friend, I converted one of my Herter's Model 63 American Wigeon to a Eurasian Wigeon last Fall. I believe I posted a photo or 2 hereabouts - but cannot locate it. Nevertheless, I just made up a Behr Paint chart for this species - Drake only as the Hens of the 2 species are virtually indistinguishable.

For Wigeon, I put a Model 63 Bluebill head on a Model 63 Mallard/Black body.

I was painting my master bath this weekend and had to get some behr samples and couldn't help but think of your decoys Steve. I did pick a wigeon/pintail bill style color.

Well done, Steve. That Eurasian drake is very colorful. I wonder how often one is taken in North America? The widgeon is my favorite bird to hunt in New Mexico.

I didn't see any Wigeon this season, nothing but Bluebills and Cans, but usually when the Wigeon are here we see a couple Eurasian drakes in the mix. I have been pesting Steve for this paint schedule, and when I visited him in December, I saw the drake was complete, but also knew he was focused on the Holiday's and his family visits.... now I am sure he is focused on the LI show in 2 weeks!

I hope to get started on my attempt this week.....

I know 2 were shot this year on the currituck sound in NC.
Very beautiful birds.

Had a younging shoot a nice pair of American widgeon on youth day that were absolute stunners.
