As some here know my Boykin Spaniel, Bruno had to be put down last June. After a hard decision I got new dog Huck, a Pudelpointer. His training is coming along well. Here he is 8 months old. He got a new bone and wanted to play keep away which turned into king of the couch,(painter tarps make good couch covers). That's my wife's idea, she doesn't like him on the couch to much. Lol. I?ve been thinking the same thing Larry. I?ve said for a long time that I wanted to add a pointy dog to the mix when I retire. I had never heard of pudelpointers until a week or two ago and I?ve fallen in love with them. I?ll never give up on my Golden Retrievers but I like the versital idea of the pudelpointer to be able to duck hunt with them.

I have learned of them through Bill Clark a member here. But I did the same thing researched them for months, and fell in love with them. I do have to say they are high energy totally versatile, very different from reterviers, but the most loving dog I have ever known. He stays right at my side, loves the boat, loves retrieving, is very affectionate to people and children. My grandson is 3.5 and they are buddies.

John, you just described RUFUS perfectly.
Ruf is now 4 and has done very well on pheasant but has not duck hunted yet. Maybe this year weather permitting, he does however love water retrieving.

Glad to hear you are happy with your Pudelpointer. Incidentally Rufus would like to meet a lovely young PP lady who wants to raise a family, i would like a pup. Pm me if you know of someone.

Best wishes,Bill.

John -

Your post made me smile. Thank You.

Bird dogs have always had a major roll on my mothers side of the family, and therefore with me as well.

Many years ago my cousin Anthony told me. "My next dog is gonna be a Pudelpointer." Then he educated me on the breed, and their wonderful abilities and attributes.

Unfortunately he had a major medical issue that changed his life, and now prevents him form hunting.

If I lived where there were BIRDS. I would give one a very good look indeed.

Best regards
Vince
