your treasure junk to most

your treasure junk to most
A truer statement could never be said better. Then another persons junk is another person treasure. I am sure all of us have that one thing that most people would say its junk. As a duck hunter I know I have more then my fair share of worthless junk. To me they are a part of who I am. They could be home made decoys weights, anchors, push poles, etc. But we all got them! and would never give them up. Most of the boat blinds that were made for my boats over the years. Look like a pile of pipe and chicken wire. To me they were the cats behind. Or piles of block foam that I found in the river and made floating blinds out of. These things got me fired up once I knew I loved Duck hunting . When we are young we don't have the cash to by real anchors or real decoy weight, Didn't have the funds to buy a ready made boat blind. So It was so much more fun to find away to get the job done. We use to have parties to build blinds and to make home made weights. I really miss those days. Now days I go on line hit a button and its here in two days or so. I'm sorry its not the same as asking your buddies to come over for a few cold ones and lets put our minds to work. Junk to me! back in the day! was a way to have what the older guys had. Nice boats, nice blinds, great looking decoys. Now for many years, I have all of those things. But I still keep my junk around, to remember how fun it was to become a duck hunter.

Yes, sir! I have to believe the duck hunters of last century spent very little money, but used and re-used things they found and salvaged to build blinds, boats, rigs, weights, decoys,...etc. I enjoy repurposing wood and iron, and making do with what's available to rig duck decoys, etc...

It's also one of the things I like about this website. The skill and talent demonstrated by many of the people who post here.

Joe

I'm not a handy man , but I have came up with some great ideas over the years . I learn from a old river rat who turned junk into gold. So I know what your saying. Its easy just to go buy something if you have the funds. Theirs may be pretty but mine works just as good. And that's all that matters. Thanks Joe!
