VL&D - 12 gauge 3 inch - Francotte Knockabout
This Belgium gun began life as a ?short 10 gauge. likely being manufactured in the late 1920?s and imported by VL&D. Abercrombie & Fitch purchased VL&D in 1929 and this gun does not appear in their archives.. Gun has some scratches along with a small exterior barrel ding consistent with age and use but is in very good condition. Gun square on face and locks up tight. Gun was converted to an over-bored 3? 12 gauge (sans BoWhoop) by Briley with screw in choke tubes and comes with 4 Briley choke tubes. Being a Nash Buckingham fan I purchased this gun as a personal shooter and have used the gun for ducks and geese and a few round of clays. Gun patterns extremely well and really shined in the long bird competitions put on by the local clubs.

The choke tubes are marked steel compatiable and the barrel is fluid steel as well as over-bored. This gun was done in Texas and was made to be a non-toxic shooter. However I would consider it a light 3" gun and would not run any of the ultra high pressure loads like the Remington Hyper Velocity stuff through it. I snow goose hunted with it this spring and shot 1 3/8 oz of ITX #2 shot. That load is over 1300 fps and runs 10,000 psi.
