Browning Gold

Last November I sent my Browning Gold 10 gauge semi to the Browning Factory to get fixed. The problem was the shells were not getting picked up after the first shot. This cost me so many ducks and geese the first half. I almost threw the dang thing in the river twice. Anyway! a week ago I just got it back. I was happier then a young kid at Christmas. It looked so good and clean I was really happy. Until I took it out of the box and started to put it back together. The magazine spring came flying out of the gun. Also the cap and anything else that was with it was gone. I was so pissed and I looked all over for the parts. I found the spring and that was all. I picked up the phone and called the gun smith I sent it out with(Here in New York State we have to send out our guns with a licence firearm dealer). They were really cool about it they called Browning right up on the phone. Browning told them to ship the gun back to them at know change. They paid for shipping and everything. Well I just got it back the other day and didn't shoot it yet. But I did make the dealer put it together to make sure the same thing didn't happen again. I had the gun worked on before the season for the same problem. The gun smith replace a part or two. He thought he fixed it that's why I sent it out to the Browning Factory. Let the people that makes the gun work on it. If they can't fix it you would have to think know one else can.View attachment December 2018 photos from Galaxy 528.jpg

Anthony, I was able to send my Marlin to Remington (Remington now owns Marlin) for some warranty work not too long ago. I shipped it with UPS, and UPS brought it right to my door after Remington shipped it back to me. My understanding is that we here in NY can ship guns to manufacturers on our own, no FFL required. Note that you must ship the gun with an actual UPS shipping center, not the UPS Store which is actually a privately owned chain and not directly owned by UPS. Perhaps look into this and try it next time, to save the FFL fees.

Thanks bud I didn't that ! I will try that next time. The way I understood the law was only FFL could ship them. Thanks you!!!!!!!!!

Anthony, by law you may ship a gun in for Repair to the factory direct. UPS satilite stores aren't supposed to ship guns. I am a ffl and ship USPS or Fedex satillite store. USPS is usually cheaper.
I have sent in guns for repair and come back still not function.

When I last spoke with a Remington rep at the factory here in NY. His advice to me, was to bring my shotgun to them, and when it was repaired come pick it up. It saves a lot problems that can occur in shipping, and so forth. As in reassembly, etc.

Yes this is impractical for many, but if you are within a days drive it is well worth it. Many of us have driven farther for lesser reasons. We are waterfowlers, we migrate far and near when need be.

If a "Shoot Gun" don't work, why have it?

This sounds correct. Anthony, I shipped it from the UPS customer center in Kingston, which I don't think is very far from you. This is the one on Memorial Drive, NOT the UPS Store in the King's Mall (I took it there first and they advised me to go to the customer center instead). The customer center has very odd hours, so make sure you call ahead if you go there. The clerk asked if it was being shipped to the manufacturer, verified the address was indeed the manufacturer, and then did not bat an eye. I believe shipping ran me around $20 two years ago. Remington paid to ship it back to me. However, I believe Remington should have reimbursed me for my shipping costs, since this was a brand new firearm that literally fell apart when I took it out of the box, brand new. I didn't press the issue, and they did fix it so I'm fairly happy.

Give it a try next time you send a firearm back to the manufacturer. Certainly cheaper than paying an FFL, and faster as well.

Anthony,
Glad your Browning is in working order. I also have shipped guns using UPS. They do require a copy of the FFL of the manufacturer, dealer etc., but will ship it with no problems.

If you can't send it to the people that makes the gun then where do you go. You would think they would have the best of the best working for them. Am I wrong! for thinking these way. I always send my guns to the place where they were made if their still around. In the past I never had any trouble. Hoping this was just a mistake on their part. Thanks for the info.

In my experience with Browning their firearm repairs are handled by independent gun smiths. When ever I,ve talked with their customer contacts they,ve directed me to return to the closest to my general area which they designated.. Now those repairs were covered under warrnty and they,ve issued me a shipping label via email. Remington ,in the past, firearms were sent to their company facility with them issueing a shipping label. Winchester the same as browning.
