Time to replace my Coot mold - material suggestions?

My coot mold is at end of life. I just finished a run of 3 dozen and it is starting to break up. I have the plug and can make a new mold easy enough. This mold was made with Smooth-on Rebound 25. I think I got around 8 dozen out of this mold, maybe less, I lost count! Any materials I should try that is cheaper or may last longer? I did not use a mother mold, just the Rebound.

As said on FB... Rebound 25 is the best. That is about what you should get. The other option is to send your plug out for an aluminum mold to be made.

Tech support at Smooth-on suggested using spray primer. I had a little foam left, not enough to fill the mold, but I tried it, and it worked very well. May get more out of this mold! Time will tell, though more Rebound will be delivered tomorrow.

Hi Phil,
Do you have any recommendations for an aluminum mold maker? I am interested in getting one made, and after doing a Google search, everyone I contacted only did big commercial jobs and not for small jobs.

Thanks,
Steve

Hi Dave,

I did some reading on the Smooth On product line. Could you elaborate how you made your mold? I am interested in adding some foam decoys to my rig this year. I didn't realize you didn't need a metal mold.

Thank you,
Steve
