Repainting Mallard spinner to Canvasback

I want to repaint a Mallard MoJo to a Can I have what I need for body and head paint color wise
My question is should I repaint the wings black on one side white on the other, or a light grey under wing and black with white edges on the top?

I would go with a medium gray, grading to lighter gray at the lower edge. You will achieve plenty of contrast with the wings spinning against the grayish waters of fall.
 
There is a traditional technique used for darkening cork that may produce a good result on the plastic, which can be slippery and not hold paint well. You take a torch and heat the surface until it darkens - I'd start with 30-60 seconds of direct torch application to the whole surface of the object.
