What's on your work bench? September 2019

Thanks, Steve. If you click and enlarge, you can see a pellet hole behind the eye. Have not yet repainted the bottom.
Makes me happy to see used stuff come back for rehabilitation, especially the Wileys.

Good morning, Pat~

Sweet birds!

On those tall-necks - do you reinforce with a dowel up through?

All the best,

SJS

You guys blow me away. My bench consists of repainting/ touching up my plastic Decoys.
They are not works of art by any means but I use the limited talent to my best ability 😉

Steve - these are decoys made by Duncan Ducharme in the 1960's. I did not carve the just painted them. Mr Ducharme did dowel all his heads.

...and he apparently felt compelled to prove that you can fit a square block into a round hole.

Jode -

The artistic license is what makes your Decoys so unique, and appealing.

Two thumbs up on The Acorn Eater & September Duck.

Best regards
Vince

[Size 4]This one has been a long time developing, but the process was enjoyable all the way through.
Started back in February at the start of the extended goose season, and completed just this week.

Bob, I've been following along on facebook. Amazing work, all I can say is you are creating family heirlooms and somebody is going be enjoying this long after you are gone. Please take the time to attach an envelope with your write up on the backside of your artwork. My Mother had a few things put away, yet when she passed, only a couple of us older siblings even knew what significance some of those items had to her and the family.

Some really fantastic work this month already. Always motivational to see what others are doing.

Thanks Much Vince

My bench is at the resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL. It has been very hot, after Dorian headed up the coast. And all the normal vacationers cancelled, we have had the place to ourselves. Easiest drive down on Wednesday, and places are empty. Since we can only get so much sun each day, I brought some work with me.

My paint bench:

And some completed work....Buffleheads and Old Squaw

Good morning, Dave~

Beach, Butterball and Bills - now THAT's livin' !

I don't recognize the very nice Buffleheads, though - your birds?

All the best,

SJS

Steve, the Buffies are from blanks from Bob Romstadt (BrDecoys) on FB. They are heads and bodies I ordered. Have done a couple dozen including these. More assembled at home for myself as I sold my rig already! As my skills improve, I sell off and make new. Never ending cycle I fear. Needs to stop for now though. Boat is paid for and season is soon.
