A another duck season starting soon!

Funny, how a new season can bring back old memories, these ones are not so distant.

Man, I miss hunting with my Suzy, my first ever bird dog. She was a great upland and waterfowl dog,
even retrieved a couple rabbits one year. She was quite and steady as a rock, we miss her!

Suzy and I ended up getting our HRCH and winning a All-age Field Trail as well!
I trained her myself with help from some buddies who have been training dogs for a long time. Man, did she
teach me a lot.

If her knee didn't let her down at 9, I have no doubt she would have won a National Amateur. Man she could mark!

Here is some of my favorite pics of her doing her thing!

In her hide waiting on birds, which we do a lot of in our public marshes

We got our own pheasants sometimes :)

In this shot we were waiting on the ringnecks, not a great blind but man we had a 2 person
limit in just under 2 hours! This is one of my favorite pics of Suzy and I

This was a great way to break in our new MoMarsh!

This is the 3rd hunting season, since we lost her and it's as hard as the first.
Hope your getting nothing but big greenheads up there Suz!!

Only a couple of weeks now, I'm scrambling to get decoys finished and blinds weeded in.

A brown dog with an all age win? Didn't realize that was possible.....just kidding, congratulations it is quite the accomplishment! I'm thinking we know some of the same people; I'm active with the Niagara Peninsula Retriever Training Club and have judged for the Long Point club a couple of times.

Any photos of the new dog?

I bet we have chatted at a picnic trial :)

HAHA! Ya, you don't see it much, that's for sure, especially an amateur trained one ;) She had a great last year! She was in the 4th almost every weekend. Our newish dog "Tango" is a project, she's almost 9. She's a sweet heart but not as smart as Suzy LOL!

Tango, does love the birds though :)

This is Duke, he's our new pup. He's just over a year now and still pretty goofy but this will be his first duck season :)

I see where you went wrong. You switched to Black dogs.HAHA. I have a 15month old Chocolate that is running Masters. 2 wins in 4 tries. We leave next Friday for Canada for 5 weeks. Congrats on a great dog. Good luck with your upcoming season
