5 days- season here opens on Saturday

I was out to the marsh early last Thursday to check on some things, the boats are all lined up, the water level is near perfect and saw a lot of woodies and teal buzzing around, only a few mallards in the air, and lots of geese but they are off limits for all but the last couple days of our first split this year. and a sizable bevy of swans, no season here but they a fun to watch coming in for a landing

for camera geeks- I was out playing with a new old camera - a Voigtlander in 6x9 format - takes a wide picture on 120 film

Rick -

Good luck and have a safe and enjoyable first day.

IMO the NY DEC was correct in moving the first day up, so we could get a chance at Wood Ducks & Teal. My favorite mid size and small puddle ducks to hunt, shoot and eat.

Geese, I no longer get worked up about hunting them hard like I used to. When I'm craving goose gumbo, or BBQ goose, then I get blood in my eye.

By the way it will also be the first day of Pheasant and Turkey here. So it will be duck hunting in the morning, then try for Pheasants if things go as planned.

Best regards
Vince

You guys are very trusting leaving motors on those boats unguarded . My gear is in a building 500' from the road.
Looks like a great place to hunt, best wishes.

Good luck, Rick, on your opener. I have 14 days to wait and then it stays open until the end of January.
