Armistice Day/Veteran's Day: An Additional Reason to Remember This Day

Guys (and Dani),
I was looking at the Michigan Sportsman's Forum for Waterfowlers and saw a post there that today is the anniversary of the famous Armistice Day Storm of 1940 that killed so many duck hunters. Personally I like to remember that event every year. It is one reason I offer the Blessing of the Fleet each year.

Here is a link to the report about that day as printed in "Sporting Classics" in 2015. It is worth reading and remembering.

Thanks for the reminder Larry. As I have told the story many times on this site, my Dads best buddies Dad (Leo) was out in that storm on the Mississippi backwaters near Winona MN where the worst of the storm trapped many hunters. Back when he was among us he told the story many times before of his fight for survival and how by the grace of God and a guiding light brought him to shore and safety. A few of his hunting buddies were not as lucky that day

I?ve motored by this place many times and years after that storm my Grandpa died while out there ice fishing. He was found a short distance from where Leo was out hunting during that Armistice Day blizzard. Such a small world.

Thanks Larry!

Does anyone have a reprint of the actual MacQuarrie story? I remember reading it but can't find it now. His story (like all of his) was awesome.
