it is with great sadness that I wanted to share that my dear friend, and great contributor to this site lost his battle with Cancer Friday evening.

He was like a father and a brother to me. I am broken.

He had many friends and acquaintances on this forum. Please join me in praying for him and his family.

Thank you Jon for the memories.

This is terrible news. Jon shared with us he had lung cancer that spread and was undergoing treatment. I am so sorry to hear he has passed. He has been a member here from nearly the beginning and was such a thoughtful, supportive, loyal, and well liked friend to all of us. I never met him in person but know he was about as nice of a person as one could ever meet and have no doubt this is tough on you. This is a real loss to our community and his absence will be felt for a long time. I offer my prayers and sympathy to his family and loved ones.

I am so saddened by this. John and I talked a lot. He always threatened he was coming out to eat oysters and crabs. He had a unique sense of humor and a quick wit. I will really miss him. My prayers for Nancy and his family.

Here?s to North winds, calm waters and birds in the sky over that great duck blind in the sky.
Godspeed, Jon.

Twice in six weeks we've been hit with the death of friends on this site. Jon was one of those guys whose posts you paid attention to. Always.

May the Lord watch over his family.

Such a hard time of year for this to happen too. Always hard to read these messages. Prayers for his family and friends.

That is sad news. I always respected Jon and he had great things to add to the forum. We traded notes back and forth at times and I always enjoyed his perspective on things.

Sorry to hear of his passing. I knew he was sick but didn't realize how sick since he had posted here recently. I'll miss his contributions to this group. Fair winds and following seas Jon. Wishing peace to your family.

[size 4]Saw Nancy's post about Jon's passing on Facebook just this morning. His courageous spirit and positive perspective will be missed. A man who truly loved the outdoors and all it had to offer.

So sorry for your lose. He was always a positive member of this community. I'll miss seeing his laid back lab in his avatar. I always got a chuckle from that.

My condolences and best wishes to all of his friends and family.

Bob Furia very accurately summed Jon's approach to living and life. Fighting cancer can be a very lonely path. Jon set an example worth emulating.

Our condolences on your loss and best wishes for his family.

My deepest sympathy to Jon's family and friends at such a difficult time.

He was a man that truly did love the outdoors, and all that went with it.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Rest in peace Jon, and someday we shall meet in The Happy Hunting Ground.

Sincerely
Vince

I am so sorry to hear this. What a wonderful person he was. He had the best dog photo ever. He had a great attitude toward life and those around him. I'm going to use the memory of Jon for inspiration from here on.

I feel like Phil; I never met Jon, but his posts always very informative and helpful. You could tell that he knew alot about our sport and all that goes with it. My prayers to his wife and family.

A very sad loss. Years back, Jon mailed me a decoy anchor of his design for my "collection". As with many of you, Jon was a valued friend I had hoped to meet in person.
