Well I am sitting home now! duck season is over an a day or so left to goose season. So I was thinking that maybe its time to tell old war stories.
Years ago I was watching ESPN The Great Outdoors Show. When a duck hunters from the West Coast came on.These two hunters were talking about funny duck hunting stories. When I heard their fifteen minute stories and sat through fifteen minutes of commercials. You know those shows that are a half hour long. But really only fifteen minutes long.
Well their stories were nothing compared to my experiences. Some of which I will share with you.
Well I am about to share some my funny ,strange but true stories. (Funny now not then)
One hunt my dog J.J. and I where hunting ducks on the Hudson River on the last day of the year. When I got into a flock of Ducks. I emptied my ten gauge then processed to pick up all the dead ducks. But! there had to be one of those cripples. So like all the rest of you good duck hunters. I locked and loaded my shot gun. And off I went down river in pursuit of that cripple. The River was full of big ice. The temperature was well below zero degree's. Learning my boat operating skills and technique from my old friend River Rat Tom. I got my motor at top speed and tore after that dam duck. All of a sudden I slammed into a ice berg. J.J. The super dog went flying over the bow and into the icy Hudson. That was bad enough but like the Titanic my boat had hole in its bow. Water kept coming in. I keep going faster to keep the water out. J.J. keep swimming along way behind me. Being a good master I spun that boat around . I wasn't leaving my dog. The motor still wide open I put my hand into the icy water and grabbed the dog by the collar. I couldn't stop the boat or it was the end of both of us. He was like a rock skipping across the water. I couldn't get him into the boat. Going about two hundred yards. I beached the boat on the nearest shore. J.J was fine! We walked through the woods to get to my truck. We were blessed to be safe. And we were satisfied with the days hunts. Tell me some of your stories!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
