Brad, I will keep my eye out for a TDB for you. One thing to check immediately is the seam around the upper deck and hull that seals the two halves together. Check all the way around, but particularly carefully in the stern around both the transom and the two stern floatation chambers. This is generally where water intrudes into the hull. Also, check the seam around the edges of the work deck where it meets with vertical surfaces for cracks or wear that would allow water in, for the freeze-thaw cycle to work to expand the damage and accelerate the process. Keep in mind that water will move through fiberglass if left to pool and stand for extended periods. Hard covers are a must for these boats, both for security and storage protection.

Also, your might want to call Tom Olsen and inquire whether he knows anyone looking to sell their boat for an upgrade to a new or larger model. They charge too much for their rehab work, but are a good source of possible leads.

If the boat you find is not painted, and you want to refurbish the gel coat, send me a PM and I will send you the color codes and walk you through the process.

IF I get a guy in upstate NY to sell me his crusader at a good price, I will be putting my fully refurbished and rewired TDB-17' up for sale. It would include a new hard cover and blind, along with the original blind panels. The Bankes owner is at the end of his hunting career and not keen on acknowledging this reality, so who knows how out negotiations will end...

Good luck in your search!

Rick. Please keep me in mind. I love my 14 ft. I just need more space. I was contemplating a brand new one but I?m not sure. Let me know as soon as you find out please. 😜
Thanks!
