Coot Decoys Wanted

I am looking to add some coot decoys before next season. Thought I would check and see if I could find some used ones before buying new or painting a bunch of old decoys black. Thanks Mike

Dave, are you using EPS or polyurethane foam to mold them? Are you just making them for your own use? I am trying to avoid a large project due to a fairly full schedule already?

When hunting over coot decoys, can you tell me how many you are running in your spread? For the last 3 years we have been competing with any where from 500 to a couple thousand coots most of the season. My normal small decoy spread just won't compete.

Ironically, since I started making the Coot, I have sold them faster than I can rig them. I am hunting a different location and we are not seeing the Coot as much, so I have not bothered to set them out. My intention was just to dump a couple dozen out and add some divers to the mix, really just add that black spot on the water that they provide.

I am casting the bodies in 4# 2 part urethane foam, and the heads are solid, cast in Smooth-on Feather Lite. I have a keel weight mold that self rights them.

Though if you just want black decoys, recycling plastics is far cheaper! I am restle coating and hand painting, just because, I enjoy the shop time.
