Eider guide

After taking a whole season off for a variety of reasons, I am trying to motivate myself for next year. I?ve decided that I want to collect an Eider. My duck hunting partner and I were supposed to go last December but he passed away before we could do it. I?ll likely be alone unless I find someone before then.

Can anyone recommend an outfitter? Eastern Mass would be the most convenient but I?ll travel up into Maine if need be.

I wanted to ask this group as you are all pretty trustworthy for info.

Thanks.

Yep, long time DHBP member Troy Fields.

There was another guide (from the Boston area??) who used to participate here, Ruben Perez, but I have seen him on the DHBP in a while.

First off, thanks guys!

Hi Kevin,

Some pretty competent guides working the east coast, although I've never hired any of them, I do follow, as well as converse with a couple of them and have also had shared clientele.

Randy Drago, Jeremiah Brooks and Ruben Perez are the top three that come to (my) mind for MA. I can't speak to if or how any of them would do a single hunter, so that would be a question to ask, unless you don't mind being mixed in with others, but even then, worth asking how that would work to make sure that the situation would be acceptable to you.

I guide out of southern Maine (south of the Portland area). I'll be glad to talk on the phone and answer any question you might have related to me or others, or simply the process.. My number is 207-432-7574.

The ocean is a beautiful place to start the day.

All the best, Troy

I can attest to Troy's worthiness as a guide. Although mother nature did not cooperate, Troy still put us on birds in a sheltered area that had birds moving. Seas of 8-10 ft prevented us venturing too far yet my BIL and and old time friend still managed Old Squaws, Eiders and Scoters. Definitely worth the trip! He and Pearl wont disappoint weather permitting!

Kevin,

I can tell you that so far Troy has been a pleasure to deal with on the phone and has answered any questions I have had.

I have booked a hunt with him for the upcoming season and have no doubts based on others experiences that he will deliver everything we have spoke on.
